Carol Xu is a licensed acupuncturist and Doctor of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) in Alberta. She specialized on treating patients with stroke and stroke recovery, facial paralysis, cerebral palsy, MS, Parkinson’s, and other severe nervous system disorders. After her graduation from Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, she took special trainings on Chinese scalp acupuncture from Dr. Mingqing Zhu and Dr. Jason Hao to further improve her healing skills. She mainly uses Zhu’s scalp acupuncture in her daily clinical practice, and has seen remarkable results among her patients. Her needling technique is gentle yet efficient. Her patients rarely feel any pain of needle insertion. She also helped some patients overcome their needle phobia. She usually brings very calming and encouraging energy to her patients to assist the healing process. Caring for the patient’s emotional well being is emphasized through every treatment session.In order to further speed up the healing process, she also integrates abdominal acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, acupressure, image numerological meditation and high efficiency herbal tea into her regular treatment. Through her practice, she also notices the patient’s self care plays an very important role during and after the treatment period. She provides one-on-one training sessions to teach her patients self care skills.
